Natural Breathing: A Calm-Body Technique to Make Better Investment Decisions

Before you step into the market, come back to your body.
This isn’t just emotional regulation, it’s what helps you make decisions you won’t regret when things get rough.

Why Do We Need Breathing Techniques Before Investing?

In the world of investing, we often focus on knowledge and strategy.
But what’s often overlooked is your present state.
When your body is tense and your breath is shallow, it’s hard to see clearly and make steady decisions.
Natural Breathing helps bring your body back to a safe, stable frequency before diving into charts and strategies.
I also use it before and after the O&Hum practice, to enhance emotional and bodily awareness.

🌱What Is Natural Breathing?

Natural breathing is not deep breathing or diaphragmatic breathing.
It’s a way to let your body rediscover its own rhythm.
The focus is not on forcing breath in and out, but on returning to present-moment awareness, allowing the diaphragm to move freely.

 🧘‍♀️How to Practice Natural Breathing

  • Sit down and choose a chair with a backrest.
Let your back be supported, don’t leave it hanging in the air.
Feel the safety of being held.

  • Feet flat on the floor. Let yourhands rest gently on your thighs or belly.
  • Close your eyes softly. Bring your attention to the tip of your nose. Just observe the airflow, don’t control it.

  • As you inhale, imagine your lungs filling up like a balloon, expanding in all directions.

Your diaphragm presses downward, gently compressing the organs in your belly.

So your abdomen slowly rises.

The space between your ribs opens,

like fingers stretching apart.

Your shoulders may lift just a little, but don’t shrug.

  • As you exhale, imagine your lungs slowly deflating like a balloon.

Your diaphragm rises back up, gently drawing your belly inward toward the spine.

The space between your ribs narrows and moves downward as a whole.

Your shoulders naturally soften and sink.

  • Stay with the breath for 2~5minutes. Don’t chase a result. Just accompany yourself.
If thoughts wander, gently return to the breath.

⚠️Stay with the breath throughout this entire practice.

    Let go of thoughts.
Just keep bringing your attention gently back to this moment, right here, right now.

By the way, when you practice, find a place where you won’t be disturbed, somewhere that feels safe and comfortable for you, because this method is meant to be done with your full attention and presence.

    📅 When to Practice

    • After waking up: gently bring your body and mind into the day.
    • Before making investment decisions: calm your emotions, reduce impulsiveness.
    • Before or after O&Hum practice: deepen body awareness and enhance emotional release.
    • Before bed: relax your nervous system and ease into sleep.

    🧭 Summary & Further Reading

Natural breathing isn’t a technique, it’s a way to return to yourself.
You don’t need to be a meditation expert. All you need is a little space and presence.
