This article is for you, the one who feels like selling, feels overwhelmed, and can’t sleep when things get volatile.
📌 Previously on the Blog: Why Do We Need an Emotional First Aid Kit?
In the last two posts, we talked about:
- Part 1: It’s not that you’re bad at investing, you just haven’t learned how to stay emotionally steady. Start with ETFs.
- Part 2: Understanding how an ETF is built helps you choose one that’s truly worth holding long-term.
Maybe you’ve chosen an ETF aligned with a strong long-term trend. It looks promising on paper. But the moment the market drops 2% in a day, you find yourself:
-
Wanting to sell

Asking, “Did I choose the wrong one again?”
🧘♀️ What Is the O&Hum Method — and Why Is It So Helpful for Investors?
O is the sound of grounding and stability.
- If you’re feeling panicked, unsettled, or anxious, gently let out a deep “Ooooooo…” sound.
- As you do, imagine the sound rooting downward — through the floor, deep into the earth — anchoring your energy and slowing your heartbeat.
- This sound helps pull you out of your racing thoughts and back into the weight and presence of your body.
Hum is the sound of gentle release.
- You may notice tightness in a specific part of your body — like your shoulders, chest, or stomach.
- In that moment, gently direct a high-pitched “Hmmmm…” sound toward that area.
- Picture the sound as a warm vibration, gently helping you release any stuck emotions or pressure held there.
- You don’t need to force yourself to “relax.” As long as the sound is present, the shift will begin naturally.
🪄 A 10-Minute Practice to Help You Feel Grounded Again
Step 1: Find a stable seated position with back support
- Place both feet flat on the floor and feel the ground supporting you.
- Lean your back against the chair and notice the sensation of being held.
- Rest your hands on your thighs, palms facing down.
- Close your eyes.
Step 2: Breathe naturally and feel your diaphragm move
- No need to force deep breaths, simply notice the gentle movement of air between your chest and belly. Let your abdomen and ribcage expand and contract, and try to guide the breath all the way down to your lower belly.
- Imagine each inhale as recharging your energy, and each exhale as gently letting go of nervousness.
Step 3: Make the “O” sound (for 5–10 seconds)
- Gently open your mouth and shape your lips into a circle, then make a long “Oooo~~~” sound.
- Feel the sound drop downward, like the deep tone of a tuba.
- Repeat 3 times.
Step 4: Observe the sense of stability and gently revisit your emotions
- After finishing the O sound, take a moment to quietly sense your body. Do you feel a bit more grounded than before?
- Then, gently bring to mind a situation that recently made you feel tense, anxious, or upset (e.g., feeling stressed about a stock market drop).
- Ask yourself: Is this emotion still lingering somewhere in my body?
- Pay close attention to physical sensations: Do your shoulders feel sore? Is your chest tight? Is there pressure in your head or tension in your stomach?
- There’s no need to change or fix anything — simply observe and allow these sensations to be seen.
Step 5: Make the “Hum” sound (directed toward the area of discomfort)
- With your lips gently closed, make a soft “Hummm~~~” sound.
- Imagine sending your breath and vibration to the part of your body that feels uncomfortable, like your chest, for example.
- Visualize the sound gently soothing and loosening the tension in that area.
- Repeat 3 times.
Step 6: Sit quietly for 10 seconds and observe your breath and body
- Gently notice: Does the area that felt uncomfortable earlier feel a bit more relaxed now?
- How are your emotions at this moment?
- Do you still feel as anxious or sad as before, or has a sense of calm started to return?
- Now, try to recall: Why did you choose to invest in that ETF or stock in the first place? What belief or strategy supported that decision?
- Has this recent drop truly violated that original reason? Or is it just part of the market’s short-term fluctuations?
- Ask yourself: “Do I really need to rush and sell right now?”
- You might realize that maybe it’s not as bad as it felt. Maybe it was just your emotions reacting, not the actual situation.
⚠️ Reminder: This practice isn’t about “enduring” — it’s about “coming back.”
By the way, when you practice, find a place where you won’t be disturbed, somewhere that feels safe and comfortable for you, because this method is meant to be done with your full attention and presence.
🧭 Summary: In the midst of a storm, true safety comes from inner steadiness.
When you learn to stabilize your own energy, that’s when you can actually follow through on the investment strategies you’ve learned:
- Stay committed to your long-term convictions
- Tune out the noise of the market
- See a market dip as what it truly is — an opportunity to buy at a better price
Because learning how to stabilize your Consciousness Energy isn’t just a personal practice, it’s what allows your strategy to take root and grow, even in a volatile market.
